An Unforgettable Weekend for Guys

Announcing Wilderness Weekend for fathers and sons (ages 8+) on Friday-Sunday, July 23-25, 2021, a camping experience like none other, on the grounds of the Wild + Free Farm Village in Head Waters, Virginia!

We'll feast like frontiersmen, test our endurance on a hike up the mountain to explore a hidden cave, and go on excursions under the cover of night to see what kind of nocturnal creatures await (owls, bats, bigfoot?).

We'll learn to shoot rockets, build forts out of fallen tree limbs, and use nothing but a compass and our gut instincts to find secret destinations!

Each morning and evening, we'll rally together for a "meeting of the men" where you'll hear stories that'll make your hair stand up on-end and sing songs by the woodsmen and explorers of yore.

You'll learn skills you've never possessed before and build bonds, not only as father and sons, but with this newfound band of brothers.

An Immersive Camping Experience

You are invited to pitch your tent in one of our designated camping areas on the grounds of the Wild + Free Farm Village.

Meals are included from Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast. And we'll have luxury showers and restroom trailers available for your comfort.

  • $199 per father
  • $149 per son

Due to the nature of the activities and group sessions, the minimum age for sons is 8 and up. (We'll have other events at the Farm Village for all ages.)

Cancellation Policy: Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Meeting of the Men

Each morning and evening, we'll rally together for a "meeting of the men" where we'll tell stories that'll make your hair stand up on-end and sing songs of the frontiersmen of yore (yes, we said "yore").

We'll be led by the capable musician Aubrey McGowan who is just as apt to fell a tree as he is to belt out a ballad. He'll have us locking arms and swaying to the melodies of long-forgotten tunes in no time.

In the tradition of frontiersmen who passed the time each evening around the campfire, trying to distract themselves from circling wolves, we'll come together around the bonfire for late-night yarns and s'mores.
